Hillcrest is a small community surrounding east of Bathurst Street at Davenport Road and south of St. Clair Avenue. The nearby Hillcrest TTC complex shares the same name. The community is often called Hillcrest-Davenport.

The area features many turn of the century homes and, as its name implies, Hillcrest is geographically defined by its many picturesque hills.

The neighbourhood overlaps significantly with Corso Italia to the west. Corso Italia is Toronto’s “other” Italian neighbourhood, after College Street’s Little Italy. Corse Italia is seen by many as the more “Italian” of the two, and it is this culture that helps to define the experience of living in Hillcrest. Residents here often frequent the many shops, cafés, restaurants and gelaterias of Corso Italia.

A fuller profile of Hillcrest is being developed and will appear in this place shortly. To contribute to the profile or to publish your own impressions or memories of life in this community, email the editors at stringers@mytowncrier.ca.
